Cambridge graduate wins Nobel Prize in medicine Elizabeth Blackburn, an alumna of Darwin College and a recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University earlier this year, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine.

    Blackburn comes from the huge country down under, where I was fortunate enough to live for some years, which has excellent medical schools, hospitals and research centers. Surely Cambridge helped but she obviously had a good start.

    Εχω την πεποίθηση ότι εννεν το Cambridge που το προσφέρει αλλα ο ίδιος ο ερευητής.Τώρα γιατί στο Cambridge?Πάσιν κυκλικα τούντα πράματα με feedback.Πιάννουν πάντα τους καλλίτερους (λαλώ το και για σενα :)))) οι καλλύτεροι φκάλλουν καλλίτερα papers προσδίδουν κύρος στο πανεπιστήμιο , και οι επόμενοι καλοί επιλέγουν πάντα επίσης τα ακλύτερα πανεπιστήμια για να σπουδάσουν και να εκδόσουν papers.

    @olga : most definitely! every little institution that had smth to do with your education shapes you mind, no one is doubting that. And of course that is why all the institutions that Blackburn has been a member of have the right to celebrate her achievement.

    @Andreas : Emeis en eimaste researchers ;-) eimasten oi adkiaseroi pou evare8ikan to typical science + research je eipan ‘hmm ti na kamo simera? I know! En na gino giatros’ ;-) ne katalavo touto pou laleis je ondos etsi en ta pramata. otherwise to cam je to oxford etc etc pou exoun tosa-posa xronia ‘leitourgias’ en na exanan eventually pou to academic standard tous.
